Family Promise of Washington County becomes our fifth network in the state of Wisconsin. Washington County is in the greater Milwaukee area, about an hour from downtown, but is predominantly rural in nature. There are no existing services for families in the county of 117,000 residents.
FPWC began organizing in the spring of 2009 and efforts proceeded rapidly. They are comprised of eleven hosts and a beautiful day center—a house on 40 acres that belongs to Cedar Springs Church in Slinger, WI.
The network opened with a family in and expects to see many more soon. The first family is a mother and father with an eleven year-old and a toddler. Despite mom’s full-time work and dad’s part-time job, they were unable to make their rent and were evicted. St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Slinger served as the initial host.
Good luck to our friends in the Badger State!
