Chris was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After spending his formative years in Iowa and Washington, DC, he returned “home” to study at the University of Michigan, receiving his BA in English with a minor in film. As the son of a newspaperman, he developed an early passion for writing, media and communications.
He spent fifteen years helping to build a multi-restaurant delivery company in the DC area, leaving as vice president when he was offered the opportunity to buy into ownership and realized that he couldn’t spend the rest of his career selling pizza and sandwiches. He relocated to the New York City area to join his fiancée and was hired by Karen Olson in 2009 to develop a cause marketing department at Family Promise. Over the years, his genetic predisposition towards shaping a message has led to an expansion of his portfolio, which now includes all things communications. His aspiration is to be a part of ending homelessness in America, thus being forced into early retirement.
His extensive free time will then be devoted to his wife, Karen, noir films, crime novels, street photography, walking eighteen holes, the Detroit Tigers, progressive politics, and all things Maize and Blue.
