An unimaginable number of families are at risk of eviction. Experts estimate that between 20-30 million American families may face eviction in the coming year. Each eviction comes at a great cost to a family and the American public. The COVID-19 pandemic illustrates how important a home is to the health and well-being of a family, and especially of a child. For the first time, some families are unable to pay rent. Because of the pandemic, families already living paycheck to paycheck feel stable housing pushed further from their grasp.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Eviction Moratorium protects families from eviction through January 31, 2021. But the rent will eventually be due.
