Three Ways To Give Back This Holiday Season

Christmas tree

December 17, 2021

The holiday season is one for reflection and gratitude, and most of all a time for giving. The COVID-19 pandemic has left families across the country struggling financially and increased the need for Family Promise services. Learn more about how you can help us support families this holiday season below.

Donate

Donations of all kinds are welcome. From feeding a child for a day to covering a family’s groceries for a month, your contribution will have a profound impact on families. If you are interested in donating food, clothing, or other items, reach out to your local Affiliate to see which items would be most beneficial. Find the Affiliate closest to you here.

Volunteer Your Time

Family Promise offers a host of volunteering options. The choice of volunteering virtually or in-person ensures we meet the needs of both guests and volunteers. With activities like online tutoring, resume building, and financial literacy workshops, you can use your knowledge and skills to empower families. Whatever your talents are, there is an opportunity for you to serve your community.

Spread Awareness

Use your social media  to promote conversations around family homelessness. Harmful stereotypes create a misunderstanding of the causes of family homelessness and the unique experiences of individual families. By sharing information Family Promise provides on social media, you will foster understanding and compassion amongst your online network. Follow us on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter to learn about what we do and share our content with your community.

People in families with children make up 30% of the nation’s homeless population. Homeless families are often hidden from our view—they are living in shelters, cars, campgrounds, or doubled up in overcrowded apartments. By supporting Family Promise, you can not only make the holidays a little brighter for families, but help us end the invisible crisis of family homelessness for good.
