Join us at our 14th National Conference, April 8-10, 2016 in Long Beach,  California.  As always, it promises to be an informative and inspirational weekend.

Conference is a time to celebrate, learn and share with your fellow Affiliate leaders.  We will have many outstanding workshops on all aspects of Affiliate management, including case management, housing, fundraising, board development, and volunteer engagement.

Our keynote will feature the remarkable John Francis, an author, environmentalist and inspirational speaker.

As with every conference we will incorporate fun – this year with a harbor cruise!  The conference offers the opportunity to join hundreds of Family Promise Affiliate staff, board members, volunteers and former guests, as well as the National and regional staff, to celebrate all that Family Promise has accomplished.  We will close on Sunday with our inspiring worship service.

The conference brochure will be mailed out later this year and conference registration will open in November.  This year’s conference will be hosted by the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach, CA.  Hotel registration is open now, simply click here.

See you in sunny Southern California!

Keynote

Dr. John Francis is an environmental educator and former United Nations Environment Program goodwill johnfrancisambassador to the world’s grassroots communities. His work began 1971, when he witnessed an oil spill in San Francisco Bay, and stopped using of motorized vehicles and began to walk. Several months later, to learn to better listen, John took a vow of silence lasting 17 years.

During that time, he founded Planetwalk a non-profit environmental awareness organization, walking back across the US from California to his home in West Cape May, receiving three degrees, including a PhD in Land Resources and Environmental Studies, as well as an Honorary Doctorate in Community Service. He ended his silence on Earth Day 1990, telling the assembled crowd, “Environment is about how we treat each other.” He served as project manager for the United States Coast Guard Oil Pollution Act of 1990 Staff, and authored Planetwalker: 17-Years of Silence, 22-Years of Walking, published by the National Geographic Society.
