Family Promise Statement on Passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill

July 9, 2025

Family Promise is disappointed about the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill. This legislation will have devastating consequences for families facing housing instability and homelessness, cutting back critical programs like SNAP and Medicaid that provide healthcare, food assistance, and other essential support for parents and children during times of hardship.

The bill sends a troubling message: that families in crisis don’t deserve our support.  But at Family Promise, we know that when families are supported with dignity and resources, they not only survive—they thrive. And when families thrive, communities grow stronger.

We urge lawmakers to reconsider this harmful approach and instead commit to compassionate policies that prioritize children, stability, and opportunity. Family Promise will continue to advocate fiercely for the families we serve and stand firm in our mission to end family homelessness.
