Belk recently marked its sixth year of support for Family Promise with a donation of $263,500. The southern department store chain featured Family Promise in two fundraising activations: a month-long point-of-sale campaign that raised funds from in-store and online sales, and a Spring Charity Sale that secured donations over multiple days. The funds will be used to support children and families experiencing homelessness and help them achieve sustainable independence.
“For over 136 years, Belk has supported giving back to our communities, and we’re proud to help Family Promise as they ensure families have a place to call home,” said Belk CEO, Don Hendricks. “Thank you to our customers for their help in supporting Family Promise as one of our national charitable partners. We’re grateful to be a part of that spirit of giving.”
Since the partnership between Belk and Family Promise began in 2018, over $4 million has been raised to support families experiencing homelessness. Those funds have impacted 7,200 families, including nearly 14,000 children in the Southeast, and equipped Family Promise sites to provide shelter and homelessness prevention services like rental assistance, financial capability training, workforce development, and case management.
“We are grateful for Belk’s ongoing support of Family Promise and our mission of addressing the crisis of family homelessness,” said Family Promise CEO Cheryl Schuch. “This generosity has been instrumental in helping us expand services to meet the dramatic increase in demand that we’ve experienced in recent years ensuring that families remain safely housed.”
