Belk, the southern department store chain, held its 2021 Charity Day Sale in October, raising $346,685 to support Family Promise Affiliates in their work to address family homelessness.
Since 2018, Family Promise’s partnership with Belk has worked to empower families experiencing homelessness. Throughout the pandemic, Belk’s support has allowed Affiliates to meet the increased need for prevention, shelter, and stabilization programs. With their support, Affiliates distributed 7,000 masks, 1,000 hygiene kits, and served more than 1,800 families in shelter.
In addition to funds raised from customers, Belk has donated $2.3 million to Family Promise as part of Belk’s Project Hometown initiative, which supports Belk’s mission to strengthen southern communities.
We are incredibly grateful to our partner Belk, for once again including us in their Charity Day Sale and for helping us serve more families experiencing or at-risk of homelessness at a time when more families than ever are in need.
The funds raised will support Family Promise Affiliates in the sixteen states where Belk operates,” said Cara Bradshaw, Chief Impact Officer at Family Promise. “During these very difficult times, we are working to prevent families from experiencing homelessness, shelter them safely while in crisis, and provide ongoing supports so they can maintain housing and employment.”
