November 11, 2022

SUMMIT, NJ, NOVEMBER 11, 2022Family Promise, the leading national nonprofit working to prevent and end family homelessness, today announced the appointment of John Ferrie to the organization’s board of trustees.

Ferrie is a Director of Legal at YouTube, the world’s leading video platform. As a member of the senior leadership team at YouTube Legal, Ferrie manages teams at YouTube that oversee legal matters across a broad range of areas including the core advertising business, the YouTube Premium subscription business, content funding initiatives (including YouTube Originals, Black Voices Fund, Kids Fund, Health, Learning, News), brand-influencer deals, metaverse initiatives, YouTube Spaces (education and production facilities for YouTube creators across the world), and more. Ferrie also co-leads Asians@YouTube, one of the largest ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) at YouTube with 1000+ members that seeks to connect all Asian employees (including the many Asian subgroups) at YouTube and represent their many diverse voices within YouTube/Google leadership and the external community.

“We are pleased to welcome John to our board of trustees,” said Betsy Bernard, Family Promise board chair. “His experience in leading diversity and inclusion efforts at YouTube is complementary to our organization’s goals and values. As we continue to pursue our mission of helping families achieve sustainable independence, there is no doubt John’s legal and DEIA expertise will be invaluable to Family Promise.”

“I’m humbled to join such a devoted board and work with a leadership team that has such deep experience in this critical area of supporting families in need,” said Ferrie.  “As someone who has lived in San Francisco and then Los Angeles for a long time now, I’m constantly reminded of the urgency around helping homeless families and preventing families from becoming homeless in the first place. I had found myself asking what more can I do and I’m happy to say that I found a good answer in joining the board of Family Promise.”

A firm believer in the idea that strong families can create better futures, Ferrie also serves on the National Board of Governors for the Gift of Adoption Fund, the oldest and largest provider of adoption grants awarded on a nondiscriminatory basis.  He holds an A.B. from Dartmouth College and a JD/MBA from Northwestern University, where he is a member of the Kellogg Admissions Leadership Council for the Kellogg School of Management.
