Family Promise Rates Four Stars…Again

February 11, 2019

There are nearly 1.5 million public charities registered in the United States. To be rated by Charity Navigator, an organization must, among other criteria, have generated at least $1 million in revenue for two consecutive years and been in existence for at least seven years. Their criteria lower the total to a much more selective list of the 8,000 most impactful charities in the country, to whom they assign ratings of one to four stars.

Charity Navigator 4-star ratingThey released their newest ratings in February. For the sixth consecutive year, Family Promise was awarded four stars, the top rating from America’s largest independent charity evaluator. “We are proud to announce Family Promise has earned our sixth consecutive 4-star rating,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “This is our highest possible rating and indicates that your organization adheres to sector best practices and executes its mission in a financially efficient way. Attaining a 4-star rating verifies that Family Promise exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in your area of work.”

“Only 8% of the charities we evaluate have received at least 6 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Family Promise outperforms most other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets Family Promise apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness.”

With so many giving options available, donors are looking for accountability and transparency in the organizations they support. Charity Navigator provides essential information to give them confidence in their giving decisions. Their accountability and transparency metrics reveal which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices and whether they are open with their donors and stakeholders.

Family Promise CEO Claas Ehlers said, “We are committed to empowering families for success and mobilizing communities. But we are also committed to doing so at the highest levels of transparency, integrity, and efficiency. We are thrilled to be recognized by Charity Navigator for our efforts and high standards. This reflects our promise not just to the families we serve and Affiliates we support, but to our donors and the larger community who can have faith that we target our resources for maximum effectiveness.”
