Every day at Family Promise, we meet families who are thrust into homelessness because of medical emergencies, sudden car trouble, or unexpected job loss.
Before families can think about long-term goals like homeownership, they first need the security of knowing they can remain safely housed. That’s exactly why homelessness prevention matters.
At Family Promise, our prevention programming enables families to stay in their homes before a crisis escalates into homelessness. Whether through emergency rental assistance, case management, landlord mediation, or connections to community resources, prevention services help families maintain the stability they need to move forward.
When families can avoid eviction or maintain stable housing during difficult moments, the impact reaches far beyond a single month’s rent. Stable housing supports children’s education, parents’ employment, mental and physical health, and a family’s ability to plan for the future.

For nearly a decade, Clayton has partnered with Family Promise to support homelessness prevention efforts that help families remain stably housed during times of financial hardship. Since the partnership was established, over 44,000 families and 71,000 children have been supported through the A Future Begins At Home program. By investing in prevention programming, Clayton is actively helping families preserve housing stability and avoid the devastating impacts of homelessness before they occur.
