The best gift that twelve-year-old Prince has ever given is the 24 inches of his hair he donated in his sister’s memory.
Prince resolved to grow his hair nine years ago when his sister was diagnosed with cancer. During the course of her illness, the family faced another crisis – homelessness.
Family Promise helped them find stability and a home. Tragically, Prince’s sister passed away a few years later. Prince finally decided to cut and donate his locks in his sister’s memory, and grateful for the opportunities he now has, he turned the occasion into a fundraiser to give back to the organization that inspired him and helped his family when they had nowhere to turn.
