Family Promise and Progressive Insurance® Launch a Countrywide Employee Engagement Initiative

September 18, 2023

SUMMIT, New Jersey, September 18, 2023 – Family Promise and Progressive are joining forces to combat family homelessness through donations and volunteerism. Beginning in September, Progressive employees will have the chance to volunteer across Family Promise’s network of approximately 200 Affiliates across the country.

Family Promise’s diverse range of volunteer opportunities enables Progressive employees to give back to their communities in ways that are meaningful to them. They can select a volunteer experience that capitalizes on a specific skill set or an area of interest. Whether volunteers want to offer their professional expertise to lead virtual career readiness trainings or make food deliveries to families in shelter, this joint effort from Family Promise and Progressive will ensure that families experiencing homelessness receive meaningful support.

“We’re thrilled to have Progressive join us in our work to support families facing homelessness,” says Cheryl Schuch, CEO of Family Promise. “One in 19 children in the U.S. experiences homelessness, and we’re grateful to Progressive for recognizing the urgency of this crisis and stepping up to create positive change. This collaboration exemplifies how Family Promise unites communities for a common cause. We’re excited about the many ways Progressive employees across the country can make a meaningful difference for families in crisis.”

For years, Progressive Insurance has committed to helping people and communities in which its employees live and work through charitable and community involvement opportunities, with a concentrated focus on veterans, homelessness, and education. Looking for a national charity to expand their work countrywide in the homelessness space, Progressive discovered Family Promise and the impactful work being done by the organization.

“At Progressive, our community outreach efforts try to assist people in overcoming barriers so they can move forward in life,” said Wanda Shippy, Community Involvement Manager at Progressive Insurance. “As a home insurance provider, we’re proud to have our Progressive employees work together with Family Promise to help families at risk of or experiencing homelessness.”
