Family Promise Mourns the Loss of Sarah Jackson

September 11, 2020

A note from Family Promise CEO, Claas Ehlers on the death of Sarah Jackson.

Dear friends,

Sarah Jackson

I am sorry to share the awful news that Sarah Jackson, a member of our Guest Advisory Council (GAC), died this past week.

Besides serving on our GAC, Sarah has been a presenter at several of our national conferences, at regional meetings, and in her local community. She served as board chair for Family Promise of Gwinnett County until last year, and was a tireless advocate, mentor, and volunteer. Many Family Promise staff, board members, guests, graduates, and volunteers have met her through her national work; all have been touched by her influence and wisdom in helping shape national policy and direction. Because of her, we are better able to serve children and their families.

Family was most important to Sarah, and we understand that she died while saving one of her four daughters from drowning. While Sarah had gotten her college degree and a professional career after overcoming homelessness, her family will need support. They have set up this site for donations.

Please hold Sarah and her family in your hearts. They have lost a devoted mother; we all have lost a friend, an inspiration, and a leader in the fight to end family homelessness.

With deepest regrets,

Claas Ehlers
